ON THE WORD ITSELF What an Esoteric Retreat Actually Means The word esoteric simply means "inner." Where many retreats offer relaxation, or information about meditation, an esoteric retreat offers something more intimate: teachings transmitted directly from teacher to student, and understanding that arises through experience rather than explanation. Through seated meditation and conscious listening, sound becomes a doorway into non-dual awareness. Public transport on Yakushima is very limited, so the group travels by rental car — included in your rate, petrol and park entrance fees along with it. Some participants have generously volunteered to drive, perhaps if you too, which is, to our mind, one of the best seats for seeing the island. A Gentle Digital Pause A retreat devoted to listening asks for a quieter relationship with the noise of daily life. Participants are warmly invited to set aside phones, messages, and social media for the duration of the retreat, allowing attention to rest fully in practice rather than scattering outward. During sessions, phones are kept switched off or silent and out of sight. Should staying in touch be necessary, a brief window during breaks can be used to check messages mindfully, while mindless scrolling and social media are gently set aside altogether. Participants with family or work responsibilities are encouraged to arrange an emergency contact through the retreat organisers beforehand, so that nothing needs to be carried in the mind. This is offered not as a rule imposed, but as a gift to oneself. Many find that within a few days of stepping away from the screen, the senses grow brighter, the mind settles more readily, and the practice of listening begins to deepen on its own. Learning to gather Listening and stillness For more than two decades, my work with sound has brought me back to one simple practice: listening and stillness. When we listen deeply, our awareness becomes refined. We notice the movement of the mind, reactions, conditions of the body, tension and relaxation. This ability to observe is very powerful. Before we can change something, we need to be aware of it firstly, then act upon it with method to cause change. Through meditation and simple practices of observation, we will learn to stay with an experience without immediately reacting to it. The mind becomes quieter. We become more familiar with stillness. Stillness means the heart is calm, the mind is quiet; it is difficult to disturb and distract your heart and mind. When we stop reacting to everything, we also stop spending so much energy unnecessarily. This is part of Qi retention. During this year 2027, we will explore how Qi is depleted, how it can be maintained, and how we can consciously nourish it through the things we already do every day such as sleep, food, breath work, sound, meditation, rest and the way we live. We practise them with awareness, and experience them changing our lives and energy level. 丁未 · The Red Fire Goat, 2027 The journey is also a conversation Some things need time One of the reasons Yantara wanted to continue this work as a full-year journey is because some things need time. You may have a question after listening to a transmission. You may encounter something in your meditation that you do not understand. You may suddenly recognise a pattern in yourself that you have been repeating for years. With your questions, Yantara will personally read and respond to questions in the community throughout the year, and we will also have LIVE Zoom Q&A gatherings where we can explore what is arising together. The questions of others will also become part of your own learning. Sometimes someone asks exactly the question you have been carrying quietly. Sound transmissions How each month arrives Each month, Yantara will create and share sound transmissions according to the energetic movement of that period. There will be at least one transmission each month, and there may be more when he feels they are needed. Some may be created for a particular energetic window. Others may remain useful for much longer. Each transmission will come with clear guidance on how to listen and practise. You may be invited to listen at a certain frequency, at a particular time of day, or for a certain number of days. Allow yourself some space to notice what is happening. Learning to gather Listening and stillness For more than two decades, my work with sound has brought me back to one simple practice: listening and stillness. When we listen deeply, our awareness becomes refined. We notice the movement of the mind, reactions, conditions of the body, tension and relaxation. This ability to observe is very powerful. Before we can change something, we need to be aware of it firstly, then act upon it with method to cause change. Through meditation and simple practices of observation, we will learn to stay with an experience without immediately reacting to it. The mind becomes quieter. We become more familiar with stillness. Stillness means the heart is calm, the mind is quiet; it is difficult to disturb and distract your heart and mind. When we stop reacting to everything, we also stop spending so much energy unnecessarily. This is part of Qi retention. During this year 2027, we will explore how Qi is depleted, how it can be maintained, and how we can consciously nourish it through the things we already do every day such as sleep, food, breath work, sound, meditation, rest and the way we live. At the end of this course: Students will have acquired empowering knowledge on how to raise their frequencies properly and in an accelerated manner to connect with their own Arcturians Healing Team (AHT).
